Responsibility:

  • Enhancement of the model data post-processing algorithms with the application of the latest artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI/ML) techniques for supporting Automatic Weather Forecast Services (AWFS)
  • Carry out programming work to enhance the efficiency of AWFS, and deploy the software to the System;
  • Implement AI/ML algorithms for post-processing of NWP / EPS model data with the use of upgraded graphical processing capability of the System;
  • Implement data flow design in AWFS, workflow management of software modules to improve monitoring of data processing, product generation, quality control of outputs, and user dissemination;
  • Set up a cloud platform as a hot spare for pre-processing NWP model data and generating AWFS products, ensuring continuous product availability;
  • Conduct integration tests, perform real-time trials, evaluate product availability, and verify performance of AWFS products; and
  • Provide nursing service, project reports, documentations and conducting handover with training.

Requirement:

  • Higher Diploma / Associate Degree in Computer Science / IT-related discipline; or Bachelor's Degree in any discipline
  • 3 years' post qualification IT experience
  • Proficiency in software application development using JavaScript, web programming frameworks and database (MySQL/SQL).
  • Good knowledge and experience in various programming languages and environments, including Linux/UNIX shell scripting and Python.
  • Knowledge and experience in development of artificial intelligence / machine learning applications using Python are preferable.
  • Experience in Git and GitLab for software development and version control would be an advantage.
