(T26) To provide programming support for the development of regional AI-based weather prediction model
Responsibilities:
(T26) Be responsible for:
1. Develop and maintain pipelines for handling multi-source meteorological data
2. Build training, validation and testing datasets for the regional AI-based weather prediction model
3. Develop and train regional AI-based weather prediction model
4. Deploy and maintain the model and integrate them into existing operational workflows
5. Provide programming support to visualize the model outputs to facilitate decision making
6. Conduct model verification against observations and existing numerical weather prediction products, and support continuous improvement of model performance
7. Prepare documentation for HKO staff.
Requirements:
A Bachelor Degree in IT or CS and
1. Familiarity with Linux/Unix shell scripts.
2. Proficiency in AI model development, training and evaluation; completion of coursework in artificial intelligence and deep learning with a solid foundation in related concepts; familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch/TensorFlow.
3. Proficiency in scientific and visualization toolkits, such as NumPy, Pandas and matplotlib.
4. Proficiency in GIS.
5. Experience in version control tools such as Gitlab or GitHub.
6. Genuine interest in weather forecasting and meteorology.
7. Good command of English. A criminal record check will be required and the offer is subject to the results of the criminal record check.
